Last Tuesday I went to the doctors for a sports physical. I had to do a urine test. Would that diagnose a bacterial infection? I’m pretty sure I have one.

It could be used to diagnose a bladder infection. If the infection is elsewhere there are other good ways to diagnose it.
It might show the infection up as you can get a Urinary Tract Infection.
However, they may need to take some bloods to see if your CRP has increased or your white blood cells
You mean a bladder infection / urinary tract infection?
Usually all that’s done is a quick test to check for the presence of blood, which is characteristic of a UTI. To actually do a culture and sensitivity (the TRUE test for bacterial infection / UTI) is really rarely done.
If you think you have an infection, you should visit the doc again. If your infection was in the early stages, it may have been missed. Other things can also interfere with the results.
It could. Bacteria can cause you to get other infections that can be found by urine tests. Urinary Tract Infections can be caused by bacteria and some others. Why do you thing you have a bacterial infection? If you have symptoms or start to have symptoms, I’d go see your doctor and get it taken care of.
It will show problems in the bladder (UTI) and certain illnesses
It may diagnose a UTI, Bladder, or Kidney infection. You should have brought your concerns up with your doctor so they can begin treatment before test results come in just to be on the safe side. Urine test will check for blood, proteins, white-blood cells, and ketone levels. If you have blood or any elevated levels of proteins or white blood cells then the doctors office will send the urine out for a culture to determine what bacteria is present, if any at all. Feel better and good luck. For the time being you can get over the counter pain urinary pain relief that will help with symptoms. AZO is a great brand. Make sure to take with a full glass of water. And this will dye your urine a bring orange color, this is normal.
