Bacterial Vaginosis Causes, Symptoms & Treatments
Yogert, I know it sounds silly but the way yogert is produced it actually has the components to kill bacteria. My sister tried this and it worked. And by yogert I mean plain yogert not the fruited kind.
Sorry, there aren’t any. You have to take an antibiotic for it.

To cure bacterial vaginosis, none. You need antibiotics.
To treat -symptoms- of it, i.e. itching, smelling, etc.. just go to the pharmacy. There are all types of anti-itch, anti-smell, etc. creams and wipes in the feminine hygeine aisle. Any of them should work fine to ease your discomfort.
I stress though, OTC meds cannot and will not cure bacterial vaginosis — and if you do not take an antibiotic for the vaginosis it can become PID.. pelvic inflammatory disease.. which can lead to infertility and lifelong pain.
Look up peliv inflammatory disease on http://www.webmd.com/
You don’t want it.
Go to the doctor and get a prescription antibiotic ASAP.
I just edited this because.. DO NOT TRY YOGURT.. Yogurt is a common OTC treatment used for YEAST INFECTIONS.. not for a bacterial infection.
The infection in the sister may have gone away over time — but that’s not saying it did not cause irrepairable damage to her reproductive organs. Go.. to.. the doctor.
the best thing that you can do is to go see a doctor about what is going on with your body, let him run some tests and wait for his prescription.
i don’t want to be rude but its because of people who self-medicate that this microorganisms develop resistance to the medicines that we have right now. Mind you that improper use of medicines can lead to addiction, organ failure, even death.
i hope i was able to help you.
There are no OTC medicines that will cure any bacterial infection. The yogurt cure is good for YEAST infections which is a totally different organosm than BACTERIA.
Most improtantly it is important to get the right antibiotic. Some infections can be very serious, and have lasting effects. They are also contagious. Chances are very good that your sex parner(s) will need to be treated as well. You absolutley NEED to fo to the Dr. and very soon.
Bacterial vaginosis is vaginitis due to a complex alteration of vaginal flora in which lactobacilli are decreased and anaerobic pathogens overgrow. Symptoms include a gray, thin, fishy-smelling vaginal discharge and itching. Diagnosis is clinical and by testing of vaginal secretions. Treatment is usually with oral or topical metronidazole or topical clindamycin.
Please visit your nearest genito-urinary medicine (GUM) clinic. The service is free and your identity will be kept as confidential.
