Well, I got a pelvic exama and then they found that I ‘might’ have had a bacterial infection. So I went back in and they swabbed a couple times with Q-tips. But they did not give me a full exam a second time.
You won’t need a full pelvic exam to check for BV… just a swab of the inside of your vagina (just inside your hymen) with something more or less llike a Q-Tip.
you might get a loli pop
Your pediatrician can do a pelvic exam. Generally this is how they obtain the culture necessary to determine what kind of infection you have. I know it’s uncomfortable, but so are the symptoms of a bacterial infection.
My 4 year old daughter had to have a pelvic exam and did just fine. =)
