What causes bacteria vaginosis?
I am prone to getting bacteria infections. I will take Flagyl pills for 10 days and it will clear up only to come right back in 2 months. I know its not sex, because I have went months without sex & I will still get them. I always wipe myself with wet tissue to clean my bottom & vagina thoroughly after using the bathroom. I dont do anything to cause it to keep coming back, but yet it always does. I get sick of going to the doctor 4-6 times a year for the same thing. I felt like they werent letting me in on a secret because they want to make money. What can I do to stop reoccurences? I do have an extremely moist & warm climate down there. I think that has a lot to do with it because that is a good environment for bacteria to grow.

I don’t suggest washing yourself too much, you have beneficial yeast that controls the climaticness (?) and good and bad. Doctors say they don’t know what causes it. I got it the first time in my life a few months back, it’s horrid, I never smell like anything, so I understand your troubles. I was given the same stuff. Maybe you could try the suppository…it’s way more expensive, that’s why I didn’t buy it. I guess, daily, make sure your dry down there, don’t touch yourself without clean hands, don’t ever put soaps or douches (can cause bacteria to grow because of killing the good), just clean your inside in the shower with water every day, getting all the discharge out… I always do this…, always wear cotton underwear so you can breathe, get on a Probotic, (good friendly bacteria, mainly for the intestines) it will only do good wither way. Hope this helps, if I think of something new, I’ll edit this!
make sure you always wipe front to back when using the rest room
do u have iud? it causes bacterial infections. also try washing yourself several times a day down there. but flagyl seems to be the correct medicine. they always prescribe it for bacteria
Primary causes of bacterial vaginosis include an overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria and the Gardnerella organism. The healthy vagina includes a small amount of these bacteria and organisms. When the vaginal balance is disrupted by the overgrowth of these bacteria another protective bacterium — lactobacilli is unable to adequately perform its normal function. Lactobacilli normally provides a natural disinfectant (similar to hydrogen peroxide) which helps maintain the healthy and normal balance of microorganisms in the vagina.
E. coli which is a normal inhabitant of the rectum can cause bacterial vaginitis if it is spread to the vaginal area. Other factors which may contribute include hot weather, poor health, poor hygiene, use of an intrauterine device (IUD) for birth control, and routine vaginal douching.
Risk of bacterial vaginosis increases with menopause, and in women with diabetes, as well as women whose resistance is lowered due to other conditions.
What are the Symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis?
The most obvious sign of bacterial infection is an unpleasant foul, often fishy odor. Itching and/or burning sometimes accompany bacterial infections, but are not a required symptom for a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis.
Many times women are unaware they are infected until they are diagnosed during a routine pelvic exam and Pap smear. It is important that you don’t use vaginal douches during the few days preceding your visit to your gynecologist as douching can hide signs of infection and may make bacterial vaginosis infections worse.
What is the Treatment for Bacterial Vaginosis?
The good news is that treatment is relatively simple and effective once proper diagnosis is made. Treatment usually consists of three to seven nights of Cleocin 2% vaginal cream. Oral antibiotic treatment is sometimes prescribed and may be available if you request it from your physician. Although your symptoms may disappear before you finish your medication it’s important that you complete your medication exactly as directed by your physician.
My daughter is 19 and has the same problem and she is still a virgin,(we are very close she tells me everything) so no it is not sexually related. Her Dr told her it was caused from to much bacteria.
