What Are The Symptoms Of Bacterial Vaginosis/Vaginitis?
Ok so in 2006 I had what I thought was vaginal warts and/or herpes because I had these itching burning pimple like bumps in my vagina that never went away.
Stupidly I waited to get them checked out and when I did I had a pelvis and vaginal exam preformed and I was told that not only was it NOT an STD, but I had bacterial vaginosis/vaginitis and a yeast infection going on at the same time.
The doctor explained that the bumps were caused by irritation from the yeast infection. Well unfortuantely I suffered from BV up until the middle of 2007 because it just kept coming back. I read that its an infection that just won’t stop.
Well now its come back, but I have no insurance. Medi-Cal has denied me and all the free clinics will want a co-pay even if I have no income. Are there any at home remedies to ease this pain?

There are many symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) that a woman should watch for. For instance, if you should detect a vaginal discharge, especially after sex, it is very possible that you have contracted Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). The discharge, if found, is often gray, white or some women have reported their discharge as being yellow in color. The discharge itself may be thin in texture. Although many things can cause an abnormal discharge, it is very important that you see your GYN and take the steps to be tested and treated promptly. A ‘normal’ discharge should vary in consistency and be completely odorless.
Other classic symptoms include a very unpleasant, foul fishy smell, which could become worse during or after intercourse, intense itching around the vulvae, swelling, and irritation. The irritation can be found in and around the vaginal area. Bacterial Vaginosis can also cause painful burning during urination. Some women have experienced stomach pains, which feel like severe menstrual cramps. Although the symptoms listed above are more common, half of women with the condition of BV have no symptoms at all, which could cause severe ramifications.
In fact, some health care providers often misdiagnose BV as a yeast infection. Some of the symptoms are similar with some other sexually transmitted diseases especially Trichomoniasis. It can also be misdiagnosed as a urinary tract infection or even a vaginal yeast infection.
Should you have any of the symptoms listed above and they do not disappear with a matter of a few days, it is very important to see your GYN. If you do nothing about these symptoms, it is very possible that serious conditions will develop, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), reproductive tract infections, or reproductive tract inflammation. BV is a very troublesome and frustrating condition that women who are sexually active have to try to circumvent.
Should you become pregnant while you have BV, this could lead to several complications. You may be pregnant and show no symptoms at all, or you may have persistent symptoms. If you are pregnant and showing no symptoms, it is very likely that you will deliver the baby early, which could lead to infection. BV also increases your chance of miscarriage. It is also very important, should you need a c-section that you do not have BV, which could lead to infection. Either way, you should ask your OB to test you to make sure that you do not have BV.
If you have had an abortion or hysterectomy scheduled, you should be tested prior to the procedure to be certain that you are not suffering from BV. Women that have pelvic procedures such as a hysterectomies, or abortions are far more likely to develop a pelvic infection should they have BV.
There are many bacteria within a woman’s vagina that can cause an abnormal discharge. To make certain that you are not carrying BV, make sure to see your doctor so that you can be tested and receive the proper treatment.
