Re-current vaginosis and treatment?
I have been having recurrent BV for a little over a year. Long story, but I was treated with Flagyl the first time and it still came back. I took Clindesse (one dose) 6 days ago. So far, so good. However, it seems that the medication is still lingering inside. I don’t think it is yeast – no itching – and the Rx said yeast is rare for this type of treatment. Anyone know howlong it takes? Plus, when can I have intercourse again? Please help!

I have had trouble with recurring BV as well. I have taken Flagyl more times than I care to recall and it always comes back. I haven’t tried Clindesse so i can’t help you there but I spoke with a midwife about homeopathic remedies (figured it can’t hurt, right) and she suggested hydrogen peroxide douches. I know, everyone says to NEVER douche but I was desperate to have my sex life back so I tried it.
Buy a reusable douche (I got mine at CVS) and regular 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. I used half warm water and half Hydrogen peroxide once a day, every day for a week. It went away and has not come back at all! I am BV free for 4 months. I didn’t make it past 6 weeks with regular treatments. The midwife suggested a once a month douche, the same way right after menses to help maintain vaginal PH.
It turns out that the normal vaginal flora produces hydrogen peroxide which is what keeps the odor causing bacteria at bay.
Also, start taking 5-6 billion CFU’s of Acidophilus every day along with folic acid. It is working for me.
And don’t have sex until you have completely finished whatever course of treatment you choose and the symptoms have gone away.
Good luck!!
