I have recently been diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, and have to take an antibiotic for a week to get rid of it (metronidazole). Now, I have also been on the pill for about 16 months now (I take Logest- or Femodette as it’s called in the UK, it’s a low dose pill). My boyfriend is away for 3 weeks, so obviously I am not going to do anything during that time. My question is, can I start taking the antibiotic now, if there will be no sex for me for three weeks? I am now taking my 6th pill (I started a new pack on Wednesday), and had sex twice since (unprotected). Will this have any effect on anything, or is the antibiotic theory only valid during the course of the treatment? Your help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I had Bacterial Vaginosis couple of months ago. I was given 14 Metrodizonale tablets and I admit I didn’t really follow the instructions that well, I did miss a couple of doses from time to time. But it did work and eventually cleared up. Two weeks ago I have noticed it has come back though the discharge is not heavy as before. Its just a little yellow with that same fishy smell. Is this normal? Im a virgin btw.

have you ever had it permanently ruin your clothes? is there anything that will get the smell out? I have finally kicked the infection but now I am left with a couple pairs of smelly jeans that I have washed several times. I have tried using Borax on them but it made the smell even worse. I dont want to throw these jeans away cause I love them, and they were kinda expensive.

(I know I should have worn pads but I didnt cause pads will still stink when you have BV. But yeah, I shouldve thought about my clothes.)

I had a yeast infection late February this year, and I treated it. There were some symptoms still, for a while, so I went to the doctor and it turns out I had bacterical vaginosis. When I had this "disease", it was sort of painful to have sex, same with the yeast infection. I took a 5 day treatment for the bacteria, and just over 2 weeks ago it finished. Then I was on my period for a week, so no sex for 2 weeks. But now that I am sexually active again, I notice that it is still somewhat painful to have sex. You’d think that the 2 week break (and the medicine) would kind of heal things, right?

So, I don’t know if I still have it… it’s just painful, that’s all. My doctor thought it could be lack of lubrication, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. When I went in to see my doctor, she said it was a bit red…

What could be wrong with me? Do I still have BV (it supposedly reoccurs commonly) ?? Help?!

I think i might have some kind of vaginal infection, i’m not sure which. what is the difference between a yeast infection and a bacterial vaginosis infection, symptoms wise?

my symptoms are, itchiness around outer/inner vaginal area, soreness, yellowish discharge

I have been to 2 different doctors about this and they hav ran tests and cannot find out what is wrong, everything is coming back that im healthy. I have had symptoms of burning, itching, redness, rawness, hurting during sex, discharge seems to be most of the itching and burning but im not sure. I have these symtoms around the lips of my vagina and the g spot mainly, occasionally it will irritate my clitoris. I have been dealing with these symptoms now for id say like a year and a half and some days are better than others. I cannot masturbate without itirritating my clit which is why i think the discharge may be adding or part of the symptoms. Sex with my bf of 2 years is very painful, any bit of pressure down there burns and im really stressing out. I am 34 weeks pregnant and i planned on having a natual birth and ive read u on Vulvodynia and its not life threatening but theres also not a cure from what ive read. Im just scared that im going to be in too muc pain, more than normal birth pain. I have been treated for stds also and bacterial vaginitis ad yeast and urinary tract infection and it sll comes out clear..can anyone help me? or is anyone going through this too? I really want to give birth to my daughter and not hav a c-section. Im just tired of dealing with this and not having any answers.

I think I have bacterial vaginosis but I don’t have health insurance and can’t afford to go see a doctor. I am trying to find Metronidazole to treat the issue. I looked up ithe dosage to be 500 mg twice a day for a week. I found they actually sell Metronidazole to kill bacteria in a fish tank and they sell Fish Zole which is sold in 250 mg tablets. Could I take this without any major risks?

I think I have bacterial vaginosis, because it smells really gross (so bad i want to vomit) fishy smell and i have this greeenish-grayish discharge coming out….is it BV???? I showed my mom and she said to keep track of it (it was so awkward and embarrassing) but it might be just my discharge because I haven’t had my period yet!!! god she can’t even try to imagine me getting older!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she also said if it keeps up it is probably a infection and she would take me to the doctor, but i was to scared to tell her that i really do think it is an infection…!!!!!!!

HOw do I ask/tell my mom???? (also doctor’s appointment/treatment?)
