I’ve been trying to do research on ways to treat and prevent BV and I keep coming across e-books for remedies to cure BV naturally within 3 days. I haven’t found any useful reviews because every site that I’ve been directed to just seems interested in pushing readers to buy the book. Is there anyone who knows a little more information on these e-books? I would like to read a REAL review.

You can skip this paragraph if you just want to get to the questions:
I’m 17, I went to the doctors on Friday, and had my first pap smear and STD testing. (I asked for this, because I’ve been having "funky" discharge). It turns out I have BV, and the doctor prescribed me something to take care of it.. He let me chose between a vaginal cream, and pills (Of course I chose the pills, less messy). We are also waiting on the other STD testing results (which I hope come back negative.. My doctor said he doubts I have anything else). My doctor told me that this was confidential (unless something came up positive, because then it’d show on medical charges/treatment). He also told me I could pick up my pills myself at my local pharmacy. When I got home, I decided to tell my Dad that I had BV (via note).. I’m not good at keeping things from my dad. He seemed EXTREMELY mad.. I told him it’s more of a bacterial infection then and STD, but he was still mad.. Today he stopped by to pick the pills up for me, and when he got home he didn’t seem mad at all. Could the pharmacist have told him it’s just bad bacteria and not an std?
Anyways.. here are my questions:
How long does it take to notice effects from the pills? (I have to take 2 a day for 7 days).
Anything I should avoid (besides intercourse) while taking the medication?
What exactly causes BV?
What should I avoid to help from getting it again?
How common is it?
Thank you! I am just Curious..

I was told yogurt helps, and all the natural remedies help but they don’t heal the cause? I tried prescription medicine and it didn’t work.I read it can result from stress or lack of sleep. Please let me know your experience and how you cured it naturally.

Like what is it in general, how can you tell the difference between it and a yeast infection, and what are the symptoms? Thank you!

My vagina has been itchy off and on for a few days. It started about a week ago but it slowly got better and yesterday it completely stopped. Today, however, the itchiness returned and there is now a yellowish discharge. Does anyone know what this could be and how it could be treated? Please respond!!!

I been having it for years! And it leaves a horrible bad smell. My doctor did gave me pills before to get rid of the bacterial infection but does not seem to go away. I’m frustrated that I been living with it for years inside of me. I want to get rid of it. Does anyone know of a good strong stuff that can get rid of it fast?

Yeah. Question explains it.
I heard that one way to tell the difference is that in BV, your discharge will smell badly, while in Yeast it will have virtually no odors. Is that true?
What are other differences?
