Actually, that’s probably the reason it keeps coming back.
Antibiotics are a nice idea on paper because they kill the bad bacteria quickly… but most people don’t realize that it also kills the good bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract and in women’s vaginas. Unfortunately, the good bacteria can also help to defend against yeast infections and some bacterial infections, so when the antibiotic killed off that good bacteria, your body had no defense left against the infections. I would recommend starting on a high potency probiotic as soon as possible to help replenish that good bacteria so they can fight against it. If you keep on a good probiotic, you probably won’t see the infection come back any time soon.
Also, the other answer that mentioned wearing cotton underwear is a good idea while your body is recovering (to keep the moisture around the vagina lower so it’s not as hospitable to the yeast). And yogurt is a good idea to eat because it has probiotics, but it doesn’t have as much of a quantity as most supplements of probiotics would. Good luck!
Not that i know of but someone told me about applying yogurt. I don’t know about that but if i were you i would eat more yogurt or just take probiotics so your body can have more good bacteria.
Make sure you only wear cotton underwear, as lycra, mesh and all the other materials really irritate your vagina!
also, sounds bad, but:
* Do not push water into your vagina to clean it (douching).
* Do not add bath oils, detergents, bubble bath, etc, to bath water.
* Do not wash around your vagina too often. Once a day is usually enough.
Metronidazole vaginal gel or clindamycin vaginal cream placed inside the vagina can be used if you prefer a topical treatment, or have unpleasant side-effects with metronidazole tablets.
Note: clindamycin vaginal cream can cause weakening of condoms. Therefore, during treatment and for five days after treatment with clindamycin vaginal cream, do not rely on condoms to protect against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
Another thing i’d recommend is Live yogurt, it can be bought in supermarket’s, But it helps bring chemical balance back to your vagina, its a wonder treatment for thrush, mainly because it restores the balance back in your vagina, so i’d definatly recommend that, It needs to be inserted into your vagina, I usually put a sanitary towel in my knickers and leave it there over night, not very romantic for your partner, but it does the job!
I use a product called Bio-K. Find it in health food stores. a small bottle of yogurty stuff that guarantees 50 billion live acidopholus good bacteria. and since it’s ‘live’ bacteria your body doesnt have to revive them out of a freeze dried state. This tiny bottle will cure anything from vaginal bacteria gross things to athletes foot as well as thrush in new moms. It’s amazing.
There have been several case studies where people have applied Tea Tree Essential Oil, diluted in a carrier oil (10% dilution), soaked a tampon in the solution. change the tampon 3 times a day, continue for one week. Tea Tree oil is known to be effective against Candida, and this method has proven effective for a LOT of women.
plain yoghurt, no flavour or anything i think it’s called greek youghrt. one teaspoon once daily until gone. only tried this once very soothing, works!
Sadly yoghurt has the wrong strains of bacteria to be useful as a vaginal probiotic. Thems are intestinal bacteria, and while they’re probably not particularly harmful, they wont help much. In fact, they’ll probably just die. Cotton underwear, washing before and after sex (but NOT douching), avoiding harsh soaps down there and avoiding fragrances in your underwear drawer and anything like that, and avoiding overheating (are you wearing way too many layers to bed, ESPECIALLY down there? how about some loose fitting pajama pants) are general tips for improving your vaginal health.
It’s possible you’re recieving inadequate or poorly aimed treatment. Sexual health and disease experts are pros at this kind of thing, and can also recommend the few actually effective therapies for improving bacterial balance. See if there are any in your area.
2 options, rather than use antibiotics to kill the bacteria Iodine pessaries often work better and of course have no systemic side effects. Betadine pessaries need to be inserted twice a day for 2 weeks.
Following this you can restore the natural flora by instilling LIVE natural yogurt, either with a syringe ( without a needle!) or on tampons. This contains the same bacterial that are usually present to protect the vagina, lactobacilli.
I thiink you should eat,
PLAIN bio yoghurt, also insert it on a tampon.
Dont buy flavoured, they are more pleasant admittedly but they contain sugar, which you must not have.
Eat as much as you can, it will clean and restore your system.
