Is it Possible to Have a Bacterial Infection That Does Not Spread?

Father has been out of work for two years now because doctors say he may have infection in the biliary. Some doctors say viral and some say bacterial. You would think that if he had ANY infection that it would spread without any treatments. Doctors wont treat him b/c the infection is not getting worse but at the same time it’s not getting better.
So how can he have an infection for two years that sits in one place? Can he have an infection that just doesn’t spread?

It is likely, but usually bacteria spreads.
Perhaps that area of symptoms should be checked.
Your father should be treated.
Doctors can be extremely stupid, and sometimes you have to be your own doctor.
Do you know what kind of bacterial infection he has?
They cannot say he has bacteria without identifying it, and also he must go on an antibiotic treatment, and even if he has. Maybe another round is the answer.
Please can have a bacterial infection for 20 years, and some do not know they even have it.
That can be from a tick bite, like lyme disease for example.
Bacteria sometimes hide in hole called an abscess. This will actually keep the bacteria from spreading, but will cause symptoms.
