Bacterial vaginosis is not an STD.
Bacteria responsible for vaginosis are incapable of surviving in the male body. Hence it cannot be transmitted from you to your male partner. Bacterial vaginosis bv is not a sexually transmitted disease.
The male semen is alkaline in nature while the female vagina is acidic in nature. Often the male semen is capable of tipping off the acidic balance of the vagina and disturbing the natural vaginal flora. This results in bacterial vaginosis. Hence to stay away from vaginal infection in general it is advisable to stick to one partner and always have protected sex.
