As per Medline and the Physician’s Desk Reference:
Metronidazole is used to treat bacterial infections. It does not help colds, flu, or viral infections. Your doctor should have also told you that IT CAN ALSO MAKE ORAL THRUSH OF VAGINAL YEAST INFECTIONS *WORSE.*
Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections, including yeast infections of the vagina, mouth, throat, esophagus, abdomen, lungs, blood, and other organs.
Did your doctor do an ultrasound to arrive at your "enlarged uterus" dx? Or is it just suspicion based on exams? An enlarged uterus can be attributed to fibroids, adenomyosis, Endometriosis, scarring from previous surgery or infection, hormonal changes throughout the month (i.e., the size will increase and decrease throughout your cycle), or other conditions ranging from benign to malignant. If you are concerned, insist that further diagnostics are performed to ensure an accurate diagnosis and subsequent effective treatment based on the condition.
Good luck and feel better.
fluconazole for yeast
metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis (bacteria called gardneralla)
and most commonly an enlarged uterus in non-pregnant females is from benign fibroids
fLUCONAZOEL FOR yeast..
metronidazole for vaginosis and also for tricomonosis.
large uterus can many things, like thousand causes, including nothing(your doctor is stupid and just thought so), or fibroids, or nothings at all,
HI
METRONIDAZOL SHOULD HELP U FOR THE VAGINOSIS N FLUCONAZOLE FOR YEAST INFECTION
Well now I’m confused with everyone else’s answers because #1 I’m a nurse and #2, I kept bacterial vaginimous and a yeast infection from my weight and diabetes. I was given Flagyl aka FULCONAZOLE for the bacterial infection and METRONIDAZOLE for the yeast infection? Hummm….
Yes, I also had an enlarged uterus and several times they thought I was pregnant when I knew I wasn’t. I ended up having 8 D&C’s starting at age 9 and finally a hysterectomy at 28 because they couldn’t control the bleeding. Good Luck. Being female really sticks sometimes. Plus as a Christian I think EVE WAS FRAMED! LOL
fluconazole – trtmnt for vaginal candidiasis (yeast infection) metronidazole – trtmnt for trichomoniasis (microbial infection) or bacterial vaginosis to be given to patient and sexual partner(s) if trichomoniasis.
