You can carry it for a long time and men can carry it for years without any symptoms. You need to have him checked too as if you have had unprotected sex with him he could now have it, or could be the one who gave it to you. Normal circumstances it will cause an overgrowth and symptoms will start to show within 14 days in women but may lay dorment in men until something triggers it.

infection can be get from any source..may be from toilet as well….so its hard to say..

Trich is a common std. It can go years undetected, because many people are asymptomatic. It can also be detected as soon as 4 days post infection. Flagyl is the only cure for trich. If a pt. is allergic to Flagyl they still usually try to give it to them in the hospital and prepare for a reaction. If you use the Flagyl as ordered you will be cured. If it is recurrent then you are being reinfected by someone. Although trich is a fungal bacteria and thrives in warm most areas it usually contracted from sex. There is a very low incidence of catching from a toilet seat or someones bathing suit. Most people don’t sit on public toilets anyways.

It’s definately a sexually transmitted disease, and if not properly treated it can come back !!!
