Bacterial Vaginosis is caused by bacteria which is not a part of the normal "environment" down there. BV is a imbalance of the normal vaginal flora. Lactobacilli is wiped out and Gardnerella and various anaerobes which are normal in the female vagina , overgrows and causes the BV.
