My period is due in 2 days. 9 days ago I completed a bacterial vaginosis 5 day treatment. During the treatment I noticed thick discharge, but all that cleared up about a day or two ago. Now i’m having a creamy white discharge. This never happens before my period. Could my body be cleansing itself out or could I have a reoccurent infection? Is it possible this is a sign of pregnancy.

You can skip this paragraph if you just want to get to the questions:
I’m 17, I went to the doctors on Friday, and had my first pap smear and STD testing. (I asked for this, because I’ve been having "funky" discharge). It turns out I have BV, and the doctor prescribed me something to take care of it.. He let me chose between a vaginal cream, and pills (Of course I chose the pills, less messy). We are also waiting on the other STD testing results (which I hope come back negative.. My doctor said he doubts I have anything else). My doctor told me that this was confidential (unless something came up positive, because then it’d show on medical charges/treatment). He also told me I could pick up my pills myself at my local pharmacy. When I got home, I decided to tell my Dad that I had BV (via note).. I’m not good at keeping things from my dad. He seemed EXTREMELY mad.. I told him it’s more of a bacterial infection then and STD, but he was still mad.. Today he stopped by to pick the pills up for me, and when he got home he didn’t seem mad at all. Could the pharmacist have told him it’s just bad bacteria and not an std?
Anyways.. here are my questions:
How long does it take to notice effects from the pills? (I have to take 2 a day for 7 days).
Anything I should avoid (besides intercourse) while taking the medication?
What exactly causes BV?
What should I avoid to help from getting it again?
How common is it?
Thank you! I am just Curious..

I’ve had some soft of infection down there for over 2 years now. *shame*
I’ve previously gone to the doctor about it several times only to be prescribed Canesten or Monistat. They never worked!! I’ve tried the 3 day treatment. the 6 day treatment, creme, pill, and there’s no difference.
My discharge is sometimes white but it gets yellowish too. It’s heavy, usually after my period, which is abnormal itself I think, and really stringy and slimy. It’s also kind of clumpy at times. It smells down there all the time, but gets really foul when I get sweaty. I get sweaty a lot! When that happens it’s a heavy bread odor. It’s not usually itchy, but it does itch sometimes. It’s rather red down there and occasionally kind of hurts when I touch it. It will only burn when I pee about once a month or so. And I’ve noticed a small wart inside my outer labia.
Now my Period. It’s really dark red most of the time, and super stringy and slimy as well. But this time it gets kind of a fishy copper smell. It lasts for 7 to 8 days and it’s really brown and has an odd texture by the last days. I have also experience some pain in my pelvic region. Especially during my period. And I get bloated a lot!
I don’t know if this is relevant but it might be, so I’m putting it out there. I have a sore on the corner of my mouth that has been there for the last month.
I’ve never had sex so I’m positive it’s not an STI and I have regular showers.
It you think it’s either a Yeast Infection or BV, how could I go about curing it naturally?
I’m embarrassed to go back saying I still have a problem there, knowing that they have these kinds of things on record, also I have Anxiety, and I don’t think I could rack up the courage to do so.
Thank you in advance for taking your time to read this and answering. I’m really worried.
Also If I continue to keep this untreated what would likely happen?

So if I have the symptoms for this, do I have to get a prescription for treatment? I don’t have health insurance at the moment (low point in life), and so I can’t really go to the doctor.
Help?

Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis (BV) yesterday at the emergency room. I also found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. The doctor was not very accurate with my questions and I have my ob/gyn appointment 3 weeks away from now. I am very worried for my unborn baby because I have heard you can get your uterus infected with BV and lose the baby. What are the signs you have your uterus infected? How can you get your uterus infected? Please any advice on what to do and what not to do to prevent it from my uterus getting infected. I have moderate pain on my abdominal area and I am very scared to lose my baby. Also does sex or masturbation increase the chances of getting your uterus infected? Ex. Tightening your thighs together for a "good" sensation? ( I know its weird ) Please help me, Ive started the treatment today but I am worried. Please no rude comments and Thank in an advance

I was diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis, and just finished my last pill last night from my 7 day treatment. I was on Metronidazole. A few days ago though I noticed a white wetness at the opening of my vagina. It doesn’t have an odor or anything though, it’s just a white wetness. I was wondering if this is just the medicine or the infection flushing itself out, or if this is something else? Anyone else experience this while on Metronidazole?

First of all, I’m scared to death of not being able to have kids. So, this is making me very paranoid.
In the past 3 months I’ve been suffering with BV. Went to the doctor twice for treatment which made the symptoms go away only to have them return within a week. Then I attempted a home remedy which seemed to have worked better. That kept the BV away for about 2 weeks and surprise, surprise it’s back with a vengeance.
I can’t take this anymore! WHY does it come back? I have good hygiene, I’m healthy for the most part, no perfumed soaps, no cheap laundry detergent. And the doctors just shove more antibiotics in me that aren’t working! I’ve seen 2 different doctors now.
And to see a different doctor it’s going to be about 30-45 days. I don’t know what else to do. THIS IS RUINING MY LIFE. Can someone please share their experience with this? Or suggest to me where to go next?
