ok, i was peeing, and when i wiped, it had a fishy odor. so i went on the computer and found out that i could possibly have bacterial vaginosis. my symptoms match the ones that were described in many articles i read. so im pretty sure i have it. what kind of remedies can i use to treat it?

I read somewhere that your sexual partner (male) can be a carrier.. that he won’t have symptoms (obviously, a male couldn’t have bacterial vaginosis), but can be the cause and carrier, and that he can be treated for this as well if it’s discovered that he’s causing such infections. Is this true? I got a UTI after my boyfriend and I had sexual intercourse about 3 1/2-4 months ago, and after a few sessions about 3-4 weeks ago, I just found out today that I have bacterial vaginosis. Shortly after our last time, I felt a bit of itching and had my gyno call in a prescription for a yeast infection because I thought that’s what I had.. the itching went away though, so I never took it, but then I got the call today about this. We’re both monogamous and whatnot, I have no STD’s or anything of the sort, nor am I worried about that, I just want to know if he’s possibly carrying around some sort of bacteria or something that could be causing these minor infections and if so, if there’s a way he can be treated for it. Also, if there is a way to be treated for it, what exactly would his test consist of (urine swab, blood test, urine sample, etc.)? I just yelled at him for it, so I’m hoping I’m right lol.
I just went to my gnyo earlier this week.. this is how I know I have bacterial vaginosis.. No STD’s.. everything is normal as it always has been. & to clear some of this up, I called and had them call in a prescription for a yeast infection about 2-3 weeks back, before I even had my appt. assuming that’s what it was.. I hadn’t gone to the Dr’s to make sure, so the case is that I probably had the BV all along, because I know some yeast infection symptoms are very similar to some of BV.

I’ve gotten bv 3 times in the past month(treated twice). My boyfriend and I have been having sex for a year now and anytime we have unprotected sex whether he finishes inside of me or not I get bad symptoms about 3 hours later.

I was wondering if they will treat my boyfriend for it too, I heard they can give him the same prescription as me in case he’s carrying the bacteria.

He made an appointment for tomorrow but I don’t want him to do all of that if they’re just not going to do anything… Should he be doing anything?

Has anyone had bacterial vaginosis in pregnancy? if so what were your symptoms and experience of it? thanks

I went to the doctor because I noticed a foul smelling vaginal discharge. I had slight itching and it was a little thicker than usual. I was thinking it was bv and told my doc all of this and she asked if I wanted to have an STD screening which I did and the results were negative. Since the visit, the symptoms seem to have disappeared. I thought it was bv, then I thought maybe I have a latex allergy because I had recently had sex using a latex condom and noticed the symptoms shortly afterwards but all the info I read said nothing about an odor so I wasn’t sure. Please serious responses.

My partner and I have unprotected sex without him finishing inside of me? My boyfriend and I have been having sex the same way for a year. We put the condom on in like the last five minutes before he finishes. When I got BV it was right before my period so I was letting him finish inside me for a couple days before.

I think what happened is I got it after unprotected sex with him and the symptoms kind of subsided until we had sex again and it basically just kept getting worse and worse because I probably kept giving him the bacteria and he kept passing it back to me.

My question though is: Will I get bv again if we have unprotected sex and then use the condom like normal or will I only get it if he finishes inside of me?

I’ve heard that semen is what changes the ph level.

I’m my last 3 pills out of 14 and I want to have sex with my boyfriend again. In the medication instructions(flagyl) it says to refrain from sex while taking the medication or always use a condom.

So I’m assuming the "always use a condom" part is because semen can make it worse??

I think I have bacterial vaginosis, but I don’t want to get a bunch of answers from idiots who have no idea what their talking about. I stumbled upon this disease, and realized I had the exact same symptoms. I had this whitish yellowish grayish discharge, and right before my period a horrible smell seems to be leaking down there. It especially happens when I’m sitting down. The odor is SO strong; I’ll be sitting in class and praying that people won’t smell it. Also, it itches. Really bad at times.

I’m only fifteen, and I’ve never had sex. What would happen if I went to the doctor? Do I have to go to thegynecologistt? My doctor is currently a pediatrician, and male. But I’m scared that a gyno will do a pelvic exam. I’m so terrified of those, I thought I didn’t have to worry about them for another five years.

Also, do I really HAVE to go to the doctor for this? All the side effects of this disease are things that affect your pregnancy, or leave you at a higher risk for STDs. Since I’m not having sex, I don’t have to worry about that. So is it really necessary for me to go to the doctor? I’m scared of what he’s going to do to me.

What caused this? Again, I’ve never had sex, and I don’t douche. I shower every few days, so it’s not like I have super poor hygiene.

So here’s the story. My boyfriend and I have been together for 10 months now and we have sex twice a week. Sometimes we start off with no condom because he insists he knows when he’ll come, then we have sex again with a condom on. Also, he is uncircumcised and we took each other’s virginity. This is all background information. The real problem is, 2 nights ago we had sex and during our foreplay, I was gonna give him oral sex but didn’t like the smell of his penis. It had a fishy musty kind of stinge. He put it in me with no condom & we went on for about 2 minutes maybe until I ordered him to put one on since I don’t take any birth control pills. Anyways, it’s been 3 days & I’ve been noticing an odor coming from my vagina very similar to what his penis smelled like that night, kind of fishy. I’ve never had this problem before until now & at first I thought maybe I just haven’t washed well enough, which is hard to believe because I shower twice a day. I’ve read it online & everything suggests BV. I don’t want to go to the doctors because my mom will find out. I’m 19 btw. What are the actual symptoms? & any natural cures?

ive recently had a cervical swab and it came back positive for bacterial vaginosis and also heavy growth of gardnerella vaginalis.. i was wondering what the gardnerella is and what are the symptoms of bacterial vaginisos other then the discharge

Many months after an unprotected sexual incident, symptoms of STDs are still there. Yet all tests are negative, and I don’t have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. It feels like I am suffering from an infected episiotomy or tear, there is yellowish discharge, and the bottom of my vaginal opening is very red. There is discomfort from clitoris to rectum. 3 doctors are clueless. Anybody, any suggestions might help lead me to the cause of this… thank you.
