i found out i had bacterial vaginosis and i didnt even know i had it. i had no symptoms what so ever. after taking the medication i start getting pain, itching, and irritation in my crotch and anus. why in the world is this happening?? the redness is clearing up but why am i feeling this way? did anything similar happen to you? is this normal?

basically im 20, female and virgin. not on pill anymore and had my last period like 2 weeks ago.
i noticed i had like a white discharge more than usual and a strong smell, couldn’t figure out what it was, not exactly fishy, but peeing today i smelt like a cat pee smell, thats the first thing i thought of and when i googled it, it came up with bacterial vaginosis, would it be that?
i thought maybe yeast infection too but its not that thick
i also thought like i know this sounds gross, i clean everyday but sometimes i get tissue stuck, even though i check after peeing the tissue doesnt rip, would that have to do with smell aswell, its really annoying cos it sticks and doesn’t seem to come off in the shower sometimes, i do get a white ish discharge alot though, not alot as in quantity but from time to time i get it.. never really had the cat pee smell

I think I have Bacterial Vaginosis, I really don’t have a lot of symptoms just my vaginal fluid has a very strong fishy smelled and I have a lil bet of shoulder pain. What can I do to cure the infection?

So, I’m a little confused. I had a bacterial infection 2 months ago. I went to the dr, took the medication and it was gone. a few weeks later I had the same symptoms and had the infection back again. It even delayed my period. I finally got my period which was a week late. But this month I’m having weird symptoms and not sure if I’m pregnant or if I have an infection? I have been feeling really really cold, sick to my stomach almost everyday, extremely tired and weird twinges and lower abd cramping. The one thing that has stood out the most is my breasts have been super tender and sore for two weeks straight. I want to take a test but I’m expecting my period next week. I’m not sure if i should take it in the AM or wait until I see the gyne this friday? Any advice??

I’m 16 years old and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. I took Flagyl(twice a day) for it for a week and the symptoms were gone for about two weeks and then it came back. I tried natural remedies and that didn’t seem to work so i was prescribed Flagyl again but instead took it for two weeks. During that time, the symptoms didn’t even improve and now that I am off they are getting worse again. I have never engaged in ANY sexual activity so I know it’s not an STD. I am addicted to sugar and often eat candy and pastries but when I am not eating that I am Always eating something healthy such as brown rice, lots of yogurt, fruit, etc. I also take acidophilus and folic acid twice a day. I rarely drink water. I know diet can have something to do with it so yea… also, can your laundry detergent cause bv? i am doing anything i can to prevent this (like using unscented soaps) but it just doesn’t seem to work so I’m thinking it might be something more serious than bv. With symptoms of a strong foul odor and excessive discharge I indescribably disgusting and self conscious at school, being that I am already obsessive compulsive about hygiene.

I am losing my mind and would appreciate ANY help

I have been experiencing a recurring vaginal irritation. It lasts for about a week, goes away, then returns 1-2 weeks later. My symptoms are redness all over my vulva, especially the outer labia. It looks inflamed and feels sore. It almost feels like a burning sensation. However, there are NO blisters or lesions, just redness. I have a somewhat grey discharge, but I haven’t noticed a strong odor or an increased amount of it.

My gyno does not believe it is herpes. She says herpes does not typically look or behave the way my symptoms do. I’m not fully convinced, but I did have a negative herpes blood test at 8 weeks since possible exposure. I have not had a blister to swab for a swab test, but she did swab the irritated area and that came back negative (could easily be a false negative though).

She did do a wet prep (tests for yeast infection, trich, and bacterial vaginosis) and I came back positive for bacterial vaginosis. She also said my vaginal pH was a little bit high. I just don’t know if BV could be causing all these symptoms, especially the burning feeling on my genital area. I took antibiotics but they did not help. I also am taking boric acid suppositories and probiotics. My symptoms haven’t improved after a week.

I have absolutely no idea what this is or what to do…and my doctor seems to just think it’s the BV. Any ideas?

How long did it take before the medication relieved symptoms?

I took my first tablet only 3 hours ago and the irritation has subsided considerably. Is this normal?

I have had a discharge and odorous coming from my vagina for years now and my doctor never found any stds or anything but finally they tell me I have BV and I want to know what damage has it done to my body out of all these years of having it. I’m scared that I wont be fertile anymore and I’m only 18. I don’t have any symptoms on pelvic inflammatory disease but I’m still scared… please help

I had been diagnosed with BV once before and was prescribed metronidazole. I am having the same symptoms as last time and have medicine left. I dont have time to get to the doctor, will anything happen if I take it and it turns out I didnt have BV
