I have battled continuously with horrible BV ever since I met my partner 10 months ago. In the past I have taken to using vaginal deodorants and wipes and constantly washing to mask the smell – but any one who has ever suffered with BV will know that this just makes it 10 times worse.
My nurse told me that the PH of my boyfriends sperm played havoc with my PH and resulted in me having BV – I was left feeling depressed and hopeless because after each round of anti-biotics I had a normal smelling vagina for about a week before the horrible fish smell returned.
This time however when I noticed it returning I was careful not to wash my foo foo constantly and not to leave sperm in there over night – which tends to make it worse !!
I tried diluting abit of water with plain vinegar and washing my foo with it with a sponge after my bath – and its seemed to help alot with the smell.
Is this home remedy all in my head or can vinegar actually be a cure for BV? If it is then its the answer to my prayers !!
Any one else had any affective home remedies for BV or has experience of vinegar being helpful Id like to hear from you please !!

Ok this is now the 3rd time I have had this… For those who don’t know what it is it’s NOT a STD an you don’t give nor catch it from anyone I’ve been told by many Doctors and know for a fact myself. You can’t use the same thing you can use for a yeast infection to get rid of it. Not trying to be rude, but if you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about save the comments saying go to the Dr. Been there done that antibiotics are just short term for me an other women. So after medications/antibiotics from the Dr. has faild many times. Due to the antibiotics the Dr. gives kills both good an bad bacteria making it easier for BV to come back again an again an harder to get rid of each time it does come back. I have been to the Dr. for this one as well an once again it was hopeless.
I have come across some things that I want to know if they have worked for anyone else. I have read that they do but that’s just on some site. Due they really get rid of BV leaving the beneficial bacteria that all us women have there to prevent it from coming back?
I have already taken steps to improve my diet I’ve seen every where that it can help a lot.
From what I read I guess these are all pills? Folic acid, acidopholus an cranberry pill? I read that it will help keep the beneficial flora balanced in the vagina…. Does it get rid of it can they be used as a cure or does it just keep it under control like a medication? Flat out can they be used as a cure do they work???? One more thing can you buy them at like wal-mart without a persciption? Help please BV gets to the point where it takes over my life leaving me with no personal life. If anyone knows of any cures or ways to get rid of BV in there own personal experiences please let me know. If you even know of some home remedies.

TOO MUCH INFORMATION. If you have a queesy stomach, dont read..Okay. I’m 28 weeks pregnant today and I have bacterial vaginosis. My dr. told me I had it after doing a pelvic exam and looking under the microscope when I was only 4 weeks pregnant! He gave me a few different antibiotics to get rid of it but it’d go away only while I was taking the medication daily. The very next day I was out, it would start to come back. He told me at that point not to worry about it and he would take care of it later on in the pregnancy because he claimed some of the stronger antibiotics werent safe at this point in my pregnancy. Everytime I go in and ask about it he said he’s not concerned with that right now. I’ve called other doctors and asked them what they thought and they always gave me the same answer. " they dont know my history and my dr knows what he’s doing" I don’t have the insurance to just go out and get a new dr. I’ve done some research and I haven’t found any information saying that it could hurt the baby but it was just mainly annpoying and a bother.. I have tried a lot. I’ve inserted regular (unsweetened) yogurt up there, I tried eating unsweetened yogurt but that didn’t seem to help at all either, unless I ate a HUGE mass of it and I can’t do that everyday, it makes me sick.. It has gotten so bad that I have to wear a panty liner ALL THE TIME because the discharge is so rediculous and the smell is terrible..My question is, since my dr won’t give me anything to help… is there any home remedies that can get rid of it, or at least make it better that I can do since I’m pregnant? I dont want to do anything dangerous to the baby. This is getting unbareable for me. This is really affecting my life now. I don’t feel comfortable wearing shorts. I refuse to have sex because I’m embarassed about the discharge and smell…Please if anyone knows of anything that can help me I’d really appreciate it.
Please no negative comments. If it isn’t helpful or nice keep it to yourself. I’m asking because I need help and advice I don’t need to be critisized. Thank you.

i went to the doctor 2 months ago with a yeast infection and the doctor gave me one pill to take because she said it was only a mild infection and probably caused by antibiotics i was on before. over the next two weeks it still didnt feel right down there.. the pill seemed to have helped but my discharge was still thick (paste-like) and had a weird smell. then it got worse..it started itching really bad.. it was so uncomfortable. so i went back to the doctor and this time she told me it was bacterial vaginosis… even though it felt exactly the same as before only worse. she gave me 14 pills and told me to take them twice a day for 7 days. i did this. the pills made my mouth dry and taste like metal and my pee dark and smell horrible but i kept taking them. this was two weeks ago and STILL something feels wrong. my discharge is still thick (not AS thick as before but thicker than when everything felt normal).. and every once in a while it gets a slight itching feeling, a tickling feeling almost, that only stays for a few minutes. my "down there" doctor isnt covered on my insurance and i can’t afford to keep going back!
i’m hoping someone could help me treat this problem myself. if i treated it like a yeast infection and used monistat and it ended up being BV would that make it worse? what are some home remedies for bv? any info you have please share!

So I’m 90% sure I have bacterial vaginosis, I’ve been searching it up online and my symptoms match. I have the fishy odor, and the yellow discharge, and had the itchy/irritated vagina before that. I’ve had this for about a month now, and I cannot get rid of it. I know the simplest solution would be going to a doctor and getting a prescription, but then my mom would have to know about all this. I don’t want my mom to know, because I am young, and I am having sex ( using condoms and birth control ). I’ve also tried some home remedies, like applying yougurt to the vagina area, which got rid of the smell for the most part, but not the discharge.
What I’m trying to say, is I need the easiest way possible to get rid
of this, last choice being going to a doctor.
