I am 9 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis on Tuesday. I had an ultrasound Monday because of the spotting and we saw a healthy baby with a heartbeat.
I can’t take the medication for 3 more weeks but I’m worried about letting this infection go 3 more weeks esp. if it causing me to spot.
Reaaallly scared!
Also, what can I do other than shower twice a day, and NO sex to help until I can take the medicine?

Can none of these people read? Obviously you said you were diagnosed, so obviously you went to the Doctor.. Anyways, dont worry about it. I remember with my first I had it and got treated during the second trimester and everything was fine. My son was fine also. If the doctor is not worried, then you shouldnt either. I know its easier said than done, but it wont cause any harm to the baby. BV is common during pregnancy. I never spotted, while I had that, but spotting during pregnancy also can be normal., because I did spot at 7 weeks with my 3rd son and all was fine.
No, go to the doctor.
no but could cuase you man to run for the hills
See Y our Doctor and tell him oe her of your problem
you should goto your Dr
you’re pregnant! go see a doctor! none of us can give you a definitive answer here. usually to diagnose you with BV, you have to have a culture. i’m sure your doctor has seen this before, and will have a better answer for you.
What are your progesterone levels like? If they are low, that can lead to spotting and possible miscarriage. However, if they replace the progesterone with supplements or injections you should be okay. I know this because my mom had low progesterone levels and had to take injections. Good luck!
I had that once too, it caused no spotting but I wasn’t pregnant either. just make sure that if you use any sex toys they are clean and that if you are having sex with a significant other that they are clean.
for all of those who did not read the question or dont know about BV you cannot treat it until the second trimester, i am not sure it would cause bleeding but if your doctor did not seem worried i would not be either…i am 25 weeks and i was diagnosed at 21 weeks with bv did the treatment and all is over with but i did not bleed just keep an eye on your bleeding and good luck, i am not sure what can help either until you can take the meds for it
I don’t really think it can cause spotting. I have had BV since I was like 12, and no it isn’t always related to sexual contact. I didn’t have intercourse or any sexual contact until I was 19. I have had 2 kids and this is my 3rd pregnancy and I’ve never had spotting. I took medication for BV when I was about 21. The odor/light discharge went away for about 6 months then came back and I never bothered with medication again until about 2 months ago. I take the Metro gel vaginal stuff and it works for about 3 weeks, then the odor comes back, but my doctor said these type of infections are hard to combat while pregnant. In fact, I’m on the medication AGAIN for the second time this pregnancy.
Honestly, I would talk to your doctor about it. I do have a friend that had BV while pregnant and it caused her to have preterm contractions, but it’s never affected me at all. Good luck.
I answered you question last night and totally understand that you are scared. BV can cause your labia to become inflamed and itch, if you’ve been itching then you could have cause a sore. If not then call your doc about the bleeding. BUt really the medicine is more of a threat to your baby right now then the BV. I have had it the whole time I have been pregnant and they can’t get mine cleared up.
If you need relief from the itching then go get some tea bags and wet them, then put them in the freezer. After they are really cold placed then on your vagina. This sounds really weird I know I looked at my doc like they were crazy when they old me to do this, but it does help with the itching and burning.
Here goto this site and read up on it. I hope this help you. And if your man really loves you he will wait to have sex with you untill you are over this issue
