Bacterial Vaginosis/ Yeast Infection question?
Sigh. So I have either BV or a yeast infection. I’ve been diagnosed by one doctor with a yeast infection, then I treated that, then it persisted, so I got another doctor ordered treatment. Persisted. so I got yet another urine screen and pelvic, and they diagnosed it BV, so I got treated with Flagyl. Symptoms persist. At this point, I have spent well over 0 on various antibiotics, AZO yeast, cranberry supplements, Uristat, anti-fungals, monistat, etc. And it’s not going away. I really can’t take any more time off work for another doctor’s appointment. (It’s been at least one a week for the past month). I worry that another round of antibiotics (my third) won’t help and will just increase the chances of a yeast infection that needs more treatment.
I’m looking for alternative measures, something I can try before Kaiser gives me another remedy that doesn’t work. And yes, if it gets worse I’ll see the doctor. I’m just looking for probiotics, or anything other than more antibiotics.

I’ve had amazing results with a product called RepHresh. It is a gel that adjusts the vaginal pH to what it should be. I was having recurring BV and yeast, lots of prescription treatments, etc. This completely solved my problem. Tweaking the vaginal pH was all I needed to support my body’s natural balance (encourages the ‘good bugs’ which fight the bad bugs).
You can get it at CVS and elsewhere.
Clean up your diet – no white wheat or rice, yeast, sugar, wine – you know, all those refined carbs you hear about. Add live yogurt culture to your diet each day – not the sweetened kind or take it in pill form. If you are sexually active – take a break till this clears up – there is a chance your partner is reinfecting you.
Acidophilus pills work wonders for keeping your body at its normal level IF the dr’s put you on more antibiotics. So sorry you have to go through this!
ETA: You can get those pills at any drug store.
