Do men have to be treated for it? I am currently taking antibiotics for the infection but I’m worried that my partner will infect me again.

Your partner does not need to be treated because men do not get bacterial vaginosis. The problem is caused by an upset in the bacteria normally found on the skin and in the vagina of all humans, so testing him will not find anything that shouldn’t be there. Nobody is really even sure what causes it, only that it causes problems for women. That’s why there isn’t really any good advice on how to prevent it from happening in the first place. If your partner wears a condom, that can sometimes play a part. The powder and lubrication on those can be irritating to vaginal tissues, and that may help set up the conditions for the problem to happen. Changing brands might help in that case. If vaginal infections are a problem, it may also help if you insist that the fellow hit things with a washrag before you get friendly. For the most part though, your partner may not have been the source, and will not be a risk of giving it back to you, which is why no treatment is needed. Just take your medicine, and avoid sex while you are being treated to be safest, and insist on cleanliness for him. Most fellows shake and tuck, which is not a problem for them, but can be for you. You can also consider changing detergeant and soap products to use non-perfumed forms, and be sure to get them rinsed out well. Also wear looser fitted pants and clothing, and all cotton undies. Go without when you can, especially at night when you sleep. Stress can also make you more susceptible, so try to de-stress each day. Finally, upsets in your diet and schedule also can play a small part. It isn’t always clear what the final straw was to set you up, though, so don’t get too upset about this. Infections just happen to all ladies at least once or twice in life.
BV is not an infection, it’s actually an overgrowth of normal bacterial flora
It’s certainly not passed on by men
No need to worry but if you are concerned, you can always speak to your OB/GYN at follow up for reassurance
A man cannot have Bacterial vaginosis. It is generally thought that men cannot transmit bacterial vaginosis but they can play a role in aggravating the condition. Treating a boyfriend or treatment for a male partner is unnecessary.

BV is not an STD, women just get them from an imbalance of "good" and "bad" bacteria and you cannot give it to him. you can get BV simply from your ph being off balance and getting too much "bad" bacteria. An easy way to get it is to have unprotected sex, the semen from him can cause BV and also taking antibiotics can cause women to get BV. So no he doesnt need to be treated b/c he doesnt have it and no he wont infect you. But if ur on birth control and u do have unprotected sex, while ur on the antibiotics for the BV u need to use condoms cause antibiotics make ur birth control useless.
