Bacterial Vaginosis problem known as BV, are these some cures that work?
Ok this is now the 3rd time I have had this… For those who don’t know what it is it’s NOT a STD an you don’t give nor catch it from anyone I’ve been told by many Doctors and know for a fact myself. You can’t use the same thing you can use for a yeast infection to get rid of it. Not trying to be rude, but if you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about save the comments saying go to the Dr. Been there done that antibiotics are just short term for me an other women. So after medications/antibiotics from the Dr. has faild many times. Due to the antibiotics the Dr. gives kills both good an bad bacteria making it easier for BV to come back again an again an harder to get rid of each time it does come back. I have been to the Dr. for this one as well an once again it was hopeless.
I have come across some things that I want to know if they have worked for anyone else. I have read that they do but that’s just on some site. Due they really get rid of BV leaving the beneficial bacteria that all us women have there to prevent it from coming back?
I have already taken steps to improve my diet I’ve seen every where that it can help a lot.
From what I read I guess these are all pills? Folic acid, acidopholus an cranberry pill? I read that it will help keep the beneficial flora balanced in the vagina…. Does it get rid of it can they be used as a cure or does it just keep it under control like a medication? Flat out can they be used as a cure do they work???? One more thing can you buy them at like wal-mart without a persciption? Help please BV gets to the point where it takes over my life leaving me with no personal life. If anyone knows of any cures or ways to get rid of BV in there own personal experiences please let me know. If you even know of some home remedies.

You are right in what you are saying antibiotics are the usual treatment for bacterial vaginosis but as these kill all the bacteria within the vagina even the good bacteria recurrent BV is a real problem. All of the other things you mention will help with your general health and stop the BV coming back. I would always start with a course of antibiotics and then continue with the more natural treatments to prevent it coming back.
Its all about maintaining the flora (bacteria balance) of the vagina and things like the folic acid and acidophilus will help. Actually acidophilus lactobacitllus is the good bacteria found within the vagina so taking acidophilus supplements is a great idea and yes they are in capsule form available from any good health store.
Another thing you could try is natural yogurt with live cultures (good bacteria) a well known brand is Activia. Now you can eat this or soak a tampon in it an insert directly in to the vagina.
Do not panic and good luck with any treatments you try.
First off, I recommend that you join a support group that I’ve become familiar with over the past years. It’s called Bacterial Vaginosis — or — Embarrassing Bad Smell at the Bust Lounge. The link is below. In this support group the women have pretty much tried every method there is that they’ve heard can cure bacterial vaginosis.
Your on the right track of wanting to use acidphilus. It provides beneficial bacteria. But you need to find the acidophilus that colonizes the vaginal tract. A acidophilus product that I know of that does this is Femdolphilus, another is Rephresh Pro-B. They both contain the probiotic strains that colonize the vaginal tract and help maintain vaginal health. Research the probiotic strains, as a matter of fact I provided the links below.
Don’t bother using cranberry pills to fight an infection dealing with the vagina. Cranberry is traditionally used to treat UTI’s. Folic acid doesn’t really treat vaginal infections either. Try looking for products that are clinically proven to work.
I also have suffered from unexplained BV since I have been around 17 years old. I started taking cranberry pills twice a day and believe me, I can tell the difference! Also, it may be what you are bathing with. I have started to bathe with simple baby wash! It cleans you, leaves you fresh and it will not cause harmful bacteria. Go to your local CVS?Walgreens and purchase some AZO pills. I hope this helps!
Taking folic acid supplements among other things helped me with my BV, however I’ve never heard of cranberry pills as treatment.
Home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis really helped for me. My doctor gave me antibiotics several times, but I often got a nasty yeast infection after treatment. When I read about the potential long term effects of antibiotics, I looked into home remedies for my BV. I found that folic acid, hydrogen peroxide and other natural remedies really worked well for me. Not all home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis are in the form of pills.
I found some good information on this site:

Try the following natural cure:

It’s an Ebook that solve the root cause of this problem.
Good Luck!
