Bacterial Vaginosis-PLEASE help?
Hi All,
I had a few tests done about 2 months ago. As i have been getting dryness, swollen vagina, painful urination after sex. The swabs came back saying that I did not have a yeast infection or Chlamidia, and that I have Bacterial Vaginosis. The doc then sent me away with metronidazole which I took twice a day for 7 days. However when i was having some ME time, after i notice that i was in pain and that my vagina was rather swollen all round. So off i went to the doctors again, where this time the doc gave me some Flagyl tabs which i inserted twice a day of 5 days. Once again after stopping this treatment i had some more me time, in which i had NO pain or any of the symptons i had before. However today I had some more ME time (im not crazy, just like sex! FPRIVATE "TYPE=PICT;ALT=" and had a little bit of swelling at the front of my vagina, and slight pain. Could this be BV coming back??? Also when i had swabs done would they have checked for Trich??? could it have been mis-diagnosed as they do both have the same symptons?? Really annoyed as this has been going on for months. Should i go back to the doc and ask for more Flagyl??
Thanks for reading

The treatment for Trich would be exactly the same- Metronidazole, commonly known of as Flagyl (they are the same drug). I had some similar experiences with a seemingly endless string of vaginal infections, and what I discovered- through lots of research, not from what the doctors told me- is that Metronidazole causes yeast infections in MANY women. So, unless the doctor actually tested you the second time for yeast infections, it’s possible that you took the wrong medication.
Also- my new gyn suggested that I insert acidophilous tablets before bed every day, because it helps to balance the bacteria and yeast inside your vagina- and it helps for both types of infections.
The other thing to consider- I went off the pill recently and my pendulum of infections ceased completely. When I asked my gyn about that one, she said that sometimes vaginal dryness and recurrent yeast or bacterial infections are a side effect of the pill. Something to think about if you’re on the pill, for sure
And finally- not that I am insulting your hygiene habits, but a huge cause of BV is bacteria from the anus getting into the vagina during sex play. So, if during your "me" time, you happen to touch your anus, DO NOT touch your vagina with those fingers, because you WILL get an infection
So, good luck, hope this helped!
BV smells fishy
Is there an odor? Many women have difficulties with continuous recurring bacterial vaginosis so it may be something you will be plauged with for many years to come, even with antibiotics.
Try Rephresh. It can help balance out ph levels in your vagina, which could be the cause of your BV.
Good luck!
I think you should definitely go to dr, but I’m noticing alot of "self-service" and maybe you should keep some hand sanitizer nearby; this might help keep the bacterial infections to a minimum. If you don’t think that is it, you should insist on more testing at ur next dr. visit..
this sounds really uncomfortable look at this web site maybe it’ll help.
