Bacterial vaginitis is definately not the worst that can happen to you if you keep having unprotected sex. At least this is treatable. There are many other STDs that you could carry for as long as you live. So it is better to prevent those from happening than having to ask what to do after you catch those. I think it seems to happen more often when you're not having sex on a regular basis. You can get bacterial vaginosis even from not having sex.
