A bacterial infection is just your body creating too much bad bacteria. If left untreated u can have a low birth weight baby or premature labor. A lot of pregnant people develope this so dont worry your not the only one. Its not an STD.. but sometimes you may have to get your partner treated also. So dont worry and just take your medication =)
congrats on your babyy!!
BV is a common infection most women get while pregnant or even before pregnancy and she has to do a pap once you become pregnant to make sure you dont have anything or HVP or anything of that sort. I had BV around the same time the doc treated it and I am fine now…Good luck dear
Did they say what kind of bacterial infection? During my first pregnancy I was always getting bacterial bladder infections. Everytime they blamed me for not taking my antibiotics until they were gone. (I guess I could have shown them the rainbow colored urine in the empty pill bottle to prove it) As far as the pap I don’t know, I have never experienced an abnormal one.
Don’t worry, though it’s hard not too, especially with your first baby. It’s not abnormal for a woman to have infections when she is pregnant. I had a UTI when I was 8 weeks, and a yeast infection later on. Your Doc will prescribe something safe for your baby. Make sure you eat lots of yogurt while on antibiotics, so you lessen your chances of a yeast infection.
I’m 35 weeks & just found out on Sat that I have some kind of infection too. The dr put me on an antibiotic for a week. I dont think it would do harm to the baby. I’m sure the doctor would let you know if it was really serious. It definitely doesn’t mean it’s an std either- I have none! I had an abnormal pap too from a different dr last year before I got pregnant. She sent me to my current doctor & he said there’s absolutely nothing wrong with me. (My baby is perfectly healthy now by the way). Just don’t stress too much. If it’s serious, they will tell you.
