Bacterial vaginosis (BV) during pregnancy?

I got told about a month ago that i have BV but my doc does not want to treat me as he does not like giving pregnant women antibiotics and thought it was to early in my pregnancy to take them especially. Im currently 19 weeks pregnant with second child and im getting worried that it going to cause problems with my baby. I’ve read that it can cause premature labour and low birth weights. I’m lost as to what to do, should i just trust my dr and leave it at that? I also spoke to the midwife about it and she said that its the dr’s decision so they can do nothing further to treat it. I have an appointment with obstetrician coming up (as i had a crash section with previous child, i am classed as high risk)… Should i mention to them what has happened and how i feel about it? Can they take control of my care over my dr?

Have felt in the past that this dr is not the best at his job! Not the only person who has said it either.

Would love to hear opinions :)

I have about 95% of a prescription of Cephalexin, would it be an effective antibiotic to treat BV?

I’ve gotten bv 3 times in the past month(treated twice). My boyfriend and I have been having sex for a year now and anytime we have unprotected sex whether he finishes inside of me or not I get bad symptoms about 3 hours later.

I was wondering if they will treat my boyfriend for it too, I heard they can give him the same prescription as me in case he’s carrying the bacteria.

He made an appointment for tomorrow but I don’t want him to do all of that if they’re just not going to do anything… Should he be doing anything?

What is wrong with me!!?

I have been getting a lot vaginal discharge. It looks brown and it smells very unpleasant like a fish smell. I have no other symptoms. The first time I went to the doctor’s, she told me it was a yeast infection and she prescribed me a couple of anti fungal tablets and cream but that didn’t work. The second time I went, she told me I had Bacterial Vaginosis and gave me 14 Metroidazole tablets. I am currently taking it and have only 2 tablets left but it doesn’t look like it’s beginning to clear at all. Okay I admit I haven’t been following the directions that well. When it says take one tablet twice daily sometimes I only took one because I forgot maybe that’s why my treatment isn’t effective. Should I try antibiotics? Im scared because this may harm my reproductive system. I am a virgin btw. What do you think I have?

a doctor prescribes an antibiotic for a patient with a bacterial infection and within ten days, the patient has recovred. several months later, the patient returns with the same bacterial infection, the doctor prescribes the same medication, but this time the pateint does not respond and a different antibiotic must be prescirbd. what could be the reason that the atibiotic did not work the second time

Here some background. Im on the pill & my boyfriend & I have unprotected sex. We have it frequently. It seems like almost every time we have sex I get one of these infections. I went to 2 different OBGYN’s & they both looked at me as if I was crazy when I tell them it from sex. I dont drink beer or alcohol, coffee or sodas. I drink plenty of water. When my boyfriend & I have gone through periods of no sex I DO NOT get these infections. I get them so often Ive had to self medicate with Cipro & zithromax. (I had over 15 last year alone and going on my 3rd this year so far) I read somewhere sperm can imbalance the vaginal tract. What can I do? Am I supposed to stop having sex? Ive also done the urinating after sex bit as well. Im so frustrated!
By the way, I dont use tampons or douche and I had an IUD but removed it about a month ago because I heared it may be a factor but Im still getting them. I just started the pill immediatley after removing the IUD a month ago.
AND YES, WE’VE BOTH BEEN CHECKED ITS NOT AN STD. EVERYTIME I GO TO THE GYN FOR THIS THEY TEST ME & IM NEGATIVE> HE HAS AS WELL.

continous discharge- help?

hi, so a few years ago when i first got with my hband, we had STI screening and was treated was chylamida- he was too. all other results came back negative…that was 5 years ago…in oct this year we are now married and we decided to TTC and i have noticed that i have been getting creamy/white NOT stretchy discharge more a less every day (i dont know how long its been there as i was on the pill and obviously with TTC now i have been taking more notice of things)- i notice it when its dries on underwear as a whitey flaky type texture and when im weeing it kinda just is there ready to drip out sometimes, it doesnt stretch and is a creamy white colour like a liquidy but thickish texture (sorry for TMI) its doesnt have a smell really but a little bit of sweet type, hard to exlpain, i have had bacteria vaginosis before and wondering if that is what it could be as obviously me and my h/band have been treated years ago and have only been with eachother since…i also got tested after the treatment and it came back negative (just wanted to check it had defo gone). So any ideas what this could be, im getting it nearly every day…i have not had a positive ovulation test yet this month so far so its not ovulation discharge, ive also had a negative preg test other day. plz help- thanks…i might go to clinic 2nite just to speak to them about it and maybe get 3rd time tested for chlyamida – im getting worried and obsessed now as TTC so want to do everythin properly and maturely im 24. thanks for help and advice :)

Can chlamydia come back or is it BV?

I just got in a new relationship and had not had sex with my boyfriend until recently. Prior to this…I went to planned parenthood for an annual. There told me I have Bacterial Vaginitis…So I was given pills to take…2 a day for 7 days. I went back in on a Monday a week later it was July 7th to get the other lab results from the annual. They told me I had chlamydia. I was given a one dose medicine to drink and then they sent me on my way. prior to being diagnosed with both BV and Chlamydia i had no symptoms whatsoever of anything. So, I took the dose that day on June 7th. I was wondering how long would it have taken the chlamydia to cure? Ive been hearing different things from different people.

I then went to visit my boyfriend for his birthday on July 12th, and we had sex for the first time. I was very sore after the sex, but it went away. I returned home on Monday and that is when i sarted getting symptoms of a yeast infection or maybe even BV. Itching..discharge..what is it?

Preventing Bacterial Vaginosis?

I am male, who has had a number of sexual partners lately. Lately, the women i have been with have been contracting bacterial vaginosis (no one, including myself, has been diagnosed with any STD’s)

They say that it is just an imbalance, and that it doesn’t spread from partner to partner, but there must be something happening. The only common thread is me.

What can i do to help prevent this bacterial vaginosis from occuring in the future?

Do I have bacterial Vaginosis?

This might be kind of long. I’m going to explain my story and try to make as much sense as possible. I’ve had three sexual partners (none I have used condoms with) and my first partner we had lots of sex and his semen seemed to cause me to have strong itching, odor, and discharge & reaction so I went to my doctor got tested and I was negative for any STDS but I did have Bacterial Vaginosis.. They gave me an antibiotic and It cleared up with no problems. Then I had my 2nd partner and we had sex quite often except I had no problems with him.. everything was fine.. no symotoms of BV. So I move on to my last partner and now it’s back!! it’s terribly frustrating. I don’t understand how and why it does this. Basically I want to know is does it have to do with my PH levels and the different guys semen? I need to get to the bottom of this.
