I’ve had this for quite some time now and it’s really annoying and embarrassing. I don’t have insurance because my husbands is so expensive at his job, so don’t want to go to the doctor unless I really need to. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis about 4 years ago and took medication and everything went away for awhile. This whole year I’ve had a "fishy" odor, and lately having painful intercourse, it’s not from being too rough because we’ve tried being easier but still hurts a little. I’ve been with the same guy for the last 6 1/2 years. It doesn’t ever really itch that much, and when I use the restroom it’s "warm" at the beginning when I start going but it doesn’t "burn" I guess. I can’t remember my symptoms before besides the odor. I don’t remember painful intercourse. Can you have a fishy odor with a yeast infection? I also have thick white dishcharge sometimes. I take a shower every morning and put on new underwear but still smell myself a couple hours after. It’s so gross I can’t take it anymore! Any home remedies?
Also I’m 23 and have had 2 kids. I started my period at age 12 and have worn tampons ALWAYS since age 14. I wear pads at night, but also have to use a tampon because I have a heavy menstruation in the beginning.

If not then, what causes it?

What is the difference between the two? I know bacterial infections will last longer but what are the symptoms in each? What do I look for?

I am on my 4th day of the 7 day round of flagyl for bv. I am better but I am still having discharge and some irritation. Is this normal? Or should i be 100% better by now? My doc also gave me several diflucans to take along with the flagyl to keep me from getting a yeast infeciton. I am worried it should be better by now. Just curious and if not when should the symptoms go away? Thanks
