Bacterial Vaginosis?

So, last month I went to my doc because my boyfriend smelled some odor ‘down there’. I was told I had bacterial vaginosis. No, it is not sexually transmitted, and my boyfriend is the first guy I’ve been with in a long time.

I took my meds they gave me and the problem seemed to be fixed but, the symptoms started again. I went back for a follow-up to be sure if it had gone away or not. It either did and I got it again or it has not gone away at all…

My boyfriend and I don’t use condoms. Pregnancy is not a concern and we have both tested clean for STDs, so we don’t wish to use protection.

What is going on and why does this persist? I am a VERY clean person and I don’t understand why it is still going on? Any advice, tips or experience?

Please, no sarcastic comments.

Can condoms cause Bacterial Vaginosis?

Bacterial Vaginosis questions?

This question is for women with chronic BV only.

Im going to give you a little background info first.
I am 24 and have been suffering from chronic Bacterial Vaginosis for 7 years. I have tried every prescription under the sun (metro-gel, clindess, Boric Acid, Flagyl, etc). All they seem to do is get rid of it till my monthly cycle comes then BAM, back to where I started. Also, with using the antibiotics I just end up replacing the BV with a yeast infection and then my monthly comes around and guess what?!?!? Yep, BV again! All my doctors can basically do is give me the antibiotics and wish me luck. I have stopped taking birth control pills (since that can cause infections) and have stopped smoking. I am at my wits end and I am just about to give up on finding something that works and just live with it. I’ll be honest, I get it anywhere from 8-13 times a year and I’m sick of throwing money down the drain.

What did you do to cure your chronic BV? Do you have any other recommendations? I have been doing research for years now and the only things I have not tried are the natural remedies. TIA

I met my current partner six months ago and was told that I had bacterial vaginosis. I had never had it before but wasnt too worried as I knew it wasnt an STI. However, within weeks of the first treatment I got it again. I took the treatment but now I have started to get the symptoms AGAIN (the fishy smell which is much worse during sex). I have just been retested and am due to get my results on Tuesday.
Im so fed up with the whole thing. Iv heard that BV can occur after a change in sexual partner – which would explain why I got it in the first place – but why do I keep on getting it ?
I try to be careful when I wash and only use PH balanced soap, however me and my boyfriend have sex at least once a day. We also have sex when I am taking treatment for BV. Could this be delaying treatment or aggrivating the condition? Is it possible that he is getting some of the bacteria on his penis and then passing it back to me?Can men carry it at all? Does sex make it worse?Very frustrated lady!

I had an exam done at the gyno yesterday..I am 32 weeks pregnant. She told me my vagina was healthy but the skin around it where pubic hair would be if I didn’t shave had a bacterial infection. She has given me a cream and an antibiotic for it. I have never heard of your vagina being infection free but the area around it be infected! Have you? Also, she told me to stop shaving. I really don’t want to do that, is there any other way to avoid this infection in the future?

bacterial vaginosis?

has anyone ever had bacterial vaginosis? what were your symptoms??

I have all the symptoms for a yeast infection but instead of buying me Monistat like I requested my mom came home with a prescription drug called metronidazole vaginal gel from my uncle (who is a doctor). I was skeptical about it but used it anyways. Now I did some research on it and found out it is used to treat bacterial vaginosis and is ineffective against yeast infections!

I only took one dose but will it hurt me now if I went and started using something else like Monistat?

Bacterial Vaginosis?

I have had bacterial vaginosis before and the medicine they give me has only worked for a couple weeks at a time. Then I have to start all over again. I’m getting tired of the nasty taste and the upset stomach. Is there anything I can do as for over the counter that wont have such horrible side effects? I dont sleep around, but I am getting completely embarresed by this. It doesnt even help for me to shower a couple times a day.

bacteria vaginosis and menstruation…?

My question is…I get bacterial vaginosis every month right before my period and it’s killing me…i went to the doctor…got flagyl…but it came back the next month before my period…the doctor said that it has something to do with my ph balance right before my monthly…I wanna know if there is something I could do to keep my ph balance normal so i can stop getting this annoying thing.
I eat yogurt daily, take multi-vitamins and acidophilus pills…
