I was diagnosed for BV and I went to the doctor, and they gave me a gel to cure it. It got rid of the bad odor BV gives to you but the thing is ever since I started using the gel i’ve been bleeding for the past week and a half. It’s been a lot like a period bleeding, and it has been VERY heavy. I have had no cramps whatsoever, and right now I am on birth control but i’m not even on my sugar pills yet! This hasn’t happened to me before with my pills, just ever since I began using the gel.
I was checking to see if bleeding was a side effect, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I would ask my doctor but unfortunately the office isn’t open right now. Has this happened to anyone else before? I just think it’s really weird, and the bleeding hasn’t gone away yet but it has gotten lighter. I just finished using the gel treatment. Is this something I should be very concerned about??

Ive been struggling with bacterial vaginosis for like a month now! I dont have any health insurance and yesterday I went to a free health clinic to see if I could get a prescription for metro gel! well after waiting for 2 hours the doctor came and saw me.. he asked me what the problem is I told him I believed I had BV and he prescribled me Metronindazole (without even checking me out)
Now Ive had BV before and I was told to either do a gel for 7 days or take a pill for 7 days.. The doctor told me to take the Metronidazole (500mg) ONCE..just ONE pill!
Well the prescription came with 4 and the one pill didnt do anything! so im going to take the rest (one every 12 hours)
If this doesnt work I cant go back to the clinic because each follow up visit is 100 bucks that I just dont have. Im hoping someone on here can give me some home remedies.. Ive heard of douching with hydrogen peroxide but I dont want to do that..but what about hydrogen peroxide in my bath water?? if so how much??
please help me!

Hi again,
My doctor gave me two medications as stated abovve–does anyone know which one is for bacterial vaginosis and which one is for a yeast infection?
Also, my doctor said I had an enlarged uterous…with these symptoms…negative urine test for pg, but she is taking blood. does anyone know the cause of a large uterous?
Thanks!!

How do you find out if you have it? What kind of testing is involved? Can you have it for along time and not really know it? Will it go away on its own, or do you need antibiotics?

My wife has recurrent BV and she uses MetroGel to treat the infection. The treatment doesn’t seem to work all that well since the BV seems to crop up somewhat rapidly afterwards. Can the infection be transmitted to the male? If I don’t use an anti-bacterial wipe immediately after sex my penis will have that "fishy" smell for a couple of days (I am circumcised). At times I can smell the distinctive odor on her breath before she gives me oral sex even though we hadn’t had any type of sex for over a week. She said that her doctor had recommended that I also should be treated with the MetroGel. I spoke with a representative from the MetroGel company who said I didn’t have to be treated and that the bacterial vaginitis could be masking an STD.
I’m really at a loss to understand what’s going on and my wife doesn’t want to discuss it.
Any suggestions?

I have bacterial vaginosis, what happens if I don’t take the Flagyl? Will it clear up on its own? the symptoms arent that bad just annoying. I know it sounds stupid but I wanted to drink this weekend and I know I’ll get sick if I drink on Flagyl. I just wondered if anyone had this experience.

and that even with treatment it may not go away and the treatment may cause problems with the pregnancy, but un treated it could cause the same problems. i’m worried about this, i was actually told that i had it when i got looked at on december 26th but they are just now getting around to treating it, and they aren’t sure if it’s going to help. what are the risks of having it? and is there anything that i can do to prevent myself from going into pre term labor as they said happens most of the time? just need advice.

First day of my last menstrual period was May 11th.. Its been 3 weeks since I had intercourse and I am now pregnant.. I went to the emergency room last night because I was having abdominal pain, and while I sneezed, stretched or made strength I will have sharp stabbing pain on my pelvis.. I have just finished a 7 day treatment for a Bacterial Vaginosis and yesterday I was diagnosed with a UTI, I just started treating it.. I had an ultrasound to rule out the idea of an ectopic pregnancy.. Doctors said everything looked normal but I dont think the fetus was found.. My Hcg is 26,914.. I think that’s too high considering that my only sexual encounter was just 3 weeks ago..
Is it safe to take the meds??
Will they cause any harm to my fetus??
Is my hcg normal??
Is the abdominal and pelvic pain normal?? My Dr said it may be due to gas.. To take tums.. Is this true??
I would appreciate any answer.. Thank You
