I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me I had bacterial vaginosis and she gave me some cream for it (similar to treatment for yeast infections) The directions werent clear on how long to keep it in there, or how soon it would work. When do I know that its cleared up? For some reason I think I should be on antibiotics…will the cream cure it?

Ok I was treated with oral flagyl for bv.. Now I am pretty sure I have a yeast infection.. I have a thick white discharge. I am itchy and sore. I called my ob/gyn she said flagyl can cause that and prescribed me 2 diflucan and mycolog cream. How long before I see results? Will I get bv back from taking the diflucan? I havent had this problem in years until I switched to KY Jelly lubrication. I am married and have no STD’s. Any knowledge on this would be appreciated. Thanks
Can anybody help?
Is it normal to go from yeast to bv to yeast? how do you stop the cycle?

I’m prescribed metrodizonale(flagyl) vaginal gel (5 days) and 7 days antibiotics – 2 pills a day for minor case of Bacterial Vaginosis. Symptoms are fine after day 3 – starting to feel side effects. What happens if I stop after 5 days instead of 7?

I need help!!! I have battled continuously with horrible BV for almost 6 years. I just don’t know what to do. I am so stressed and embarrassed. I have fishy odor and discharge (and it’s getting much worse after sex). I have taken antibiotics for the past 2 years, but it doesn’t help me…
Any one had any affective home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis?
Please help me. Thank you all for your time

i was dx’d with BV for the second time this pregnancy at 27 weeks. the doctor said it was mild, that we would keep an eye on it and only treat if it became necessary.
i have a few questions:
how significant is the increase in chance of preterm labor without treatment of BV during 3rd trimester of pregnancy?
does the risk of preterm labor decrease with the flagyl treatment? what other risks are associated with the flagyl during 3rd trimester of pregnancy?
are there any other risks associated with BV other than preterm labor? is it possible to hurt the baby, the pregnancy or my future womanly health if i leave it untreated?
i’m now 29 weeks.

I have had bacterial vaginosis for over 4 months now and I have gone to my gyno three times. Two of the cream treatments gave me severe allergic reactions and one of the pills didn’t work. I apparently have a very small amount of bad bacteria but it just won’t go away and I can’t have sex and it is putting a huge strain on my relationship. I also apparently don’t have enough healthy bacteria either which is why I didn’t want to take my gyno’s 4th suggested treatment because apparently it is harsh (a seven day pill treatment-cant remember the name). I have been taking probiotics for a month and half now. Is there anything else I can do? I am desperate.

I went to my doctor to have a pap smear done..
When they got the results back, everything came back perfect except I had a bacterial infection, Bacterial Vaginosis.
(The only symptoms I had were an odor and a creamy white sometimes yellow discharge)
I did the gel medicine for seven nights..
Ever since I started the medication everytime I went to the washroom, a White cottage cheese like discharge would come out.
Is that just the bacteria being pushed out or should I be concerned?
Also, how long should I wait to have sex?

I just recently got off of antibiotics for a uti and now have bv. What the heck, can the antibiotics have caused this?? (like antibiotics can cause yeast??)
its not a yeast infection. Its bacterial vaginosis which is different. How the HECK do you get that
I am married only have 1 partner, and got this stupid BV after a UTI
Already have taken my medicine and feel better. Just wonder how the heck you get it.

I don’t have any health insurance do to being laid off, and I can’t afford Cobra. I need to buy this prescription without insurance and I was wondering if anyone knew how much the medication for bacterial vaginosis would be?
I’m going to be prescribed either metronidazole or clindamycin.

During intercourse with a girl, I noticed that she got bacterial vaginosis in her Vaginal. Ever since I have been worried. What are the implication of this to me? Although I used a condom, but I still want to know if this bacterial vaginosis can make me ill.

Ever since I met my current partner 9 months ago I have continuously been plagued with bacterial vaginosis! Every month was the same – a course of antibiotics followed by a week of a ‘normal’ vagina, followed by a gradual increase of that horrible fishy smell as soon as I stopped my treatment and we continued to have sex !!
This really started to cause problems with me and my boyfriend – i didn’t want to have sex because I was embarrassed about the smell and we started arguing. This was extremely difficult for me and made me cry alot and contemplate whether or not the relationship was worth all this anxiety on my part.
After about the 7th time of having BV, my nurse told me that we had ‘incompatible’ fluids and that when his semen came into contact with my vagina it caused my PH balance to be disturbed – thus resulting in BV!!
So whats the cure for this? Will my vagina eventually become accustomed to his semen? Do I have to just keep going through this for ever? I don’t want to split up with my boyfriend – but sex shouldn’t cause this much misery!! Its supposed to be something to enjoy – not dread !!
Of corse there are condoms, but I really dont want to have to take such precausions with my boyfriend – we should be able to enjoy unprotected sex as much as any other loving serious couple.
Id like to hear from anyone who has ever had a similar problem and also if anyone has ever heard of any sort of male treatment for BV??
btw…we have both had a full sexual screening and are both totally free from STD’s. And I know my boyfriend is faithful to me ..cheating is out of the question. There are loyal guys in this world you know !! I would simply like to know if theres any treatment for him.
It frustrates me how ignorant everyone seems to be about bacterial vaginosis when its such a common problem!!

I have previously had case of Bacterial Vaginosis and it is back. From research I have found that the symptoms are similar to those of yeast infection, but are the causes of both infections different? I ask mainly because my period is late by 5 days and I from my research I have found that the rise in Estrogen levels in pregnancy can cause a yeast infection, but is this the same for bacterial vaginosis? Should I be worried that I am pregnant? I have had the infection for almost two weeks (way before my period was even due) and I also went through a lot of stress and sleep deprivation from school exams.
